Obituary for Mrs. Thelma Kathleen Harris Wiley

Mrs. Thelma Kathleen Harris Wiley, 94, of North Augusta, SC, passed away peacefully at her home with her family at her side, on Sunday, March 22, 2020.

Born in Greenville, SC, she was one of eight children born to the late James Edward and Rilla Nell Armistead Harris. Thelma met and married her husband, Bishop James Wiley, of sixty-eight years, while attending the Church of God Bible Training School, now known as Lee University in Cleveland, TN. One month after marriage, she began her life as a minister’s wife, serving the Lord by his side from 1946 through 1985.

She was a beloved pastor’s wife serving the children, youth, and women, and working with the music program. She played the piano, organ, accordion and used her beautiful voice for God. She was a music teacher and trained musicians in most every church they pastored. She was an artist, a painter, a quilt maker, a seamstress…..she loved working with her hands, including gardening.

Thelma treasured time spent with her family-her two daughters and their husbands, Shelby and Fred Kroll and Travis and Harold Maness; her four grandchildren including Shannon Maness (Meagan), Chad Kidd (Aimee), Katrina Meador (Jimmy), Cherie Jackson (Neil); and ten great-grandchildren.

Thelma is preceded in death by brothers, Dewey and Jim and sisters, Dellie Johnson, Lora Clarke, Inez Terry, and Margaret Stringfield. She is survived by one sister, Doris Free.

The family truly regrets that due to the Coronavirus and the CDC regulations, the funeral service is private. However, a Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date. Please keep the family in your prayers.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Langley Church of God, 2444 Jefferson Davis Highway Graniteville, SC 29829.
