Obituary for Mrs. Margie Helmly Ivey

Mrs. Margie Helmly Ivey, the wife of the late Rev. Jim Ivey, entered into rest on January 3, 2019. She is preceded in death by her husband, a son, Johnny Crook, a grandson, Matthew Crook and a sister, Erline Helmly Story.

Surviving are three children: Karen Lamb (Mike), Palm Bay, Fl, Bruce Key (Tammy), Statesboro, GA and David Crook, North Augusta, SC; two brothers: Earl C. Helmly, Augusta, GA and Danny Helmly, Statham, GA; six grandchildren: Andrew Richardson, Olivia Lamb, Brice Lamb, Shawn Crook, Bradley Key and Wesley Crook and three great-grandchildren: Nathan Crook, Jacob Crook and Oliver Lamb.

Mrs. Ivey was born in Augusta, GA to the late Earl Clinton Helmly, Sr and Ruby Chapman Helmly. She was a member of Bel-Ridge Baptist Church and their Hope Sunday School Class and the Young at Heart. She retired from Brown Radiology with fourteen years of service. Following retirement, she worked for Augusta College and Happyland Nursery. Mrs. Ivey devoted sixteen years to the Foster Grandparent Program, served as a past president. She loved visiting all of Jim’s family in Union, SC, reading, working crossword puzzles, working with her foster grandkids, camping and most of all fishing.

The family will greet friends on Sunday beginning at 12:30 at Hatcher Funeral Home, 3464 Jefferson Davis Highway, Graniteville, SC with a Celebration of Life Service following in the chapel with Rev. Earl Welch officiating.
