Obituary for Mr. Thomas Eugene "Bucky" Blitchington

Mr. Thomas Eugene “Bucky” Blitchington, 68, of Beech Island, SC, husband of Mrs. Brenda Taylor Blitchington, entered into rest on Tuesday, January 1, 2019.

Born in and a lifelong resident of Aiken County, SC, he was a son of the late Cecil Blitchington and the late Ellaree Couch Poole. Bucky was a “Graniteville Boy” through and through. He graduated from Leavelle McCampbell High School, where he played football. Following his graduation from High School, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and was sent to Vietnam. He attended the Redemption Center, was a member of the American Legion Post #77 and was a Pipe Welder. He was raised to the sublime degree of Master Mason in the former Hampton Lodge #134 A.F.M., Ridge Spring, SC. Bucky enjoyed catching up with “the boys” in the morning at the Kangaroo, reading the paper at Jerry’s and his final stop of the day was Bruce’s where he played pool and electronic bowling. He also enjoyed, “wetting a hook”.

In addition to his wife and parents, family members include sons, Michael Taylor, Aiken, SC and Christopher Eugene Blitchington, Greenville, SC; siblings, William Henry Woodward, Aiken, SC, Rosemarie Centeno, AZ and the late Wanda Blitchington, five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

A Committal Service, with Veterans Honors, accorded by the United States Marine Corps Honor Guard, will be held on Monday, January 14, 2019, 3 o'clock in the Historic Graniteville Cemetery, Graniteville, SC with Brother Chris Williams officiating. A memorial service will follow at The Redemption Center, Langley, SC at 4:30 pm.

Considering Bucky’s love for “the valley” and his daily trips down 421, the funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 2:30 on Monday, for his last ride down 421, in route to the cemetery.

A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 4:30 at the Redemption Center, Langley, SC. Friends will be greeted following the Celebration of Life Service in the fellowship hall.
