Obituary for Mr. Patrick "Papa Pat" Johnson

Mr. Patrick Johnson, 54, beloved husband of Mrs. Loraine Michelle Johnson, of North Augusta, entered into rest on March 23, 2020, at his home.

Patrick was preceded in death by his mom and dad, Myrtis and Clouise Knox and his brother, Jimmy Johnson.Mr. Johnson was born in Augusta, Georgia and he was a truck driver. Papa Pat, as he was affectionately known by all, touched so many lives. He knew how to always make a bad situation better, whether he was making a joke or giving you sage advice. Papa Pat considered all of his children’s friends as one of the family. He and Loraine have helped many kids over the years who felt as if they had lost their place in the world. Papa Pat was respected by all. His stern discussions and his “Life Lessons” gave kids the hope and direction to stay on the right path. There were times when other parents would bring their misbehaved child to Papa Pat and Loraine’s house to be set straight. He will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Along with his wife, Papa Pat’s family includes his children: Joseph Bright (Angelica), of Clearwater, SC, Lashondra Joy Brown, Nathaniel Bright (Yahaira), Jessica Johnson, Brook Mixon and Yolanda Edgin (Adam), all of North Augusta, SC; grandchildren: William Barfield, Stanley Hill, Zyonni Brown, Dexter Young, Nalah Young, and Blake Young, a host of nieces and nephews and his devoted companion, his service dog, Jasper Lee Evans Johnson.

A private Celebration of Papa Pat’s Life will be Thursday at 3 o’clock. Considering the issues surrounding the coronavirus, his service will live-stream on Facebook.
