Obituary for Mr. Lawrence O’Neil ”Neil” McCormack

Mr. Lawrence O’Neil “Neil” McCormack,82, beloved husband for forty-three years to the late Mrs. Evelyn F. McCormack, entered into rest Wednesday, February 5, 2020, surrounded by his loving family. Along with his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Tommy E. McCormack and William H. McCormack, Jr.

Born in Blackville, South Carolina, Neil was the son of the late William Howell and Lena Berry McCormack. Always an impeccable dresser and meticulous in character, he was voted Best Dressed in his senior class and owned a brand-new car before he graduated from high school. He proudly and with honor served his country in the United States Navy with four years of service. With 32 years of service, he retired from Owens Corning Corporation as a scheduling supervisor. Neil was an active member of Clearwater First Baptist Church, their Master Workers Sunday School Class, Men’s Bible Class, an usher, on the Property and Grounds Committee, and part of the security detail. Neil was an enthusiastic visitor to ill church members and friends. He would be the first one to drop a ‘Get well’ or ‘Thinking of you’ card in the mail. His family said that he was the most thoughtful father and grandfather, celebrating every holiday with a little something for all of them. If he saw that there was a need, he would go ahead and take care of it. He loved spending time with his family but especially with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Surviving are his loving daughters: Patti Brissey (Ronnie), of Beech Island, S.C. and Theresa M. Callan, of Aiken, S.C; grandchildren: Grace Callan, Logan Callan, Kane Brissey, Jr, Brandon Brissey, Patrick Brissey (Shannon), and Katelyn Brissey and great-grandchildren: MeKanna Brissey, MeKenzy Brissey, Kane Brissey, III, and Isaac Brissey and his precious dogs, Bolt and Sophie.

A graveside funeral service will be at 2 o’clock Sunday, February 9, 2020, Sunset Memorial Gardens, Graniteville, South Carolina.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that memorials be made to Clearwater First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 610, Clearwater, S.C. 29822.
