History

In 1879, my Great-grandfather, J.M. Posey founded the J.M. Posey & Sons Funeral Homes and began serving families in the Aiken-Augusta area.

In 1972, during my sophomore year in high school, I began working at the funeral homes to complete my desire to continue the family tradition of becoming a funeral director.

Four years later, I entered the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science and graduated with honors in 1977.

My dream to own my own funeral home was realized in 1988 when Hatcher Funeral Home opened its doors to serve the families of Aiken County.

We appreciate the support and confidence of the many families that have called on us to serve them.

We invite you to call or visit our location to discuss the benefits of prearranging your funeral or cremation option. At Hatcher Funeral Home and Cremation Service, we strive to provide professional service beyond expectation. Our responsibility to you, our families, lie in the fact that we are not just here to bury a loved one but to help you create “those memories that are precious and forever”.

This is the tradition that began in 1879 with my great-grandfather, J. M. Posey and continues today with Ed Hatcher and Hatcher Funeral Home and Cremation Service.

Hatcher Funeral Home & Cremation Service offers meaningful and affordable funerals and cremations. All cremations are conducted at our on-site crematory. We are happy to assist you with whatever your needs may be. A growing trend, we can also assist you with making pre-arrangements for the type of service that you wish for yourself, helping save your loved ones the burden of doing so themselves.
